Even Though It’s In The Bible …

If someone tells you the truth and uses Scripture to back it up, don’t necessarily accept it as right.

‘ And he [Satan] took him [Jesus] to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” ‘
Luke 4:9-11
The devil quoted to him Psalm 91:11-12.

‘ For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. ‘
Psalm 91:11-12

We need not be paranoid, though.  The problem was the devil did not tell the whole truth.

Jesus filled in the blanks for him:
‘And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” ‘
Luke 4:12

There, he quotes Deuteronomy 6:16,  “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah. ‘

We must get the whole truth from scripture, not just part of it.
